When I was a little girl my father made lawn ornaments and small furniture pieces. My favorites were the small milking stools he made. I used to decorate some of them using Crayola crayons and became adept at a young age with using compasses and rulers and creating geometric designs on those stools that I then filled in with intense colors. If I remember correctly, heat was applied to the finished stools and they were quite stable and fun to look at. Practical? Who knows...I was under 9 years of age. I started oil painting when I was 9 and lost interest in crayons. I have no idea what came of any of the stools or if people really wanted them but that was the beginning for my love for design. When I see a piece of neglected or unfinished furniture I just want to paint it with lots of color and designs and various applications like gold leaf, crackle, faux stone, etc. It is quite time consuming but well worth the finished product!
